EMERGENCE

“Emergence; the Sacred Feminine Dances Once More” is a music and dance performance that follows one woman’s transformation away from the cultural messages that happiness is achieved outside herself through material things, consuming, and following the crowd.  Trapped by feelings of doubt, inadequacy and helplessness, the woman is forced to go within herself to seek solitude and reconnect with her sacredness. She receives many lessons and bears witness to others, both women and men, struggling with their personal journeys. The lessons received help her dance her own dance and stand in her own power. “Emergence” is a story of rebirth into a self that loves and embraces both the feminine and masculine, and recognizes that the path to wholeness lies in allowing the sacred feminine to dance once more.

CREATIVE PARTNERS

Calliope is based in Athens, in the rolling hills and woods of Southeast Ohio. We're part of a strong arts and music community, which thrives in the rich mixture of people of Appalachian heritage and more recent arrivals, many attracted to our local food economy, self-sufficiency, and rural lifestyle. 

Formed in 1993, Calliope grows out of the women’s music movement. “Like any political song movement, its music challenges, comforts, educates, and invites the heart to fall in love with a new perspective on life and humanity” (Holly Near). We are a member of Sister Singers’ Network, connecting us to women’s choirs around the U.S. that share our musical and social vision.

MELISSA BROBECK

Melissa Brobeck is a singer-actress-musician based in Athens, Ohio. She has been described as a “riveting presence” with an “electrifying singing voice” who always “brings plenty of memorable pizzazz” to the stage. Her vocal style defies categorization—she performs jazz, musical theatre, pop/rock, and opera. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Melissa is an accomplished musician who sings with a nuanced expressivity and emotional authenticity. She has performed in venues both big and small across the U.S. and in Europe. Her favorite things include the colors gray and gold, beavers, vanilla ice cream, Puccini, and the smell of rosemary.

Our weekly services start at 11:00am and are preceeded by coffee time at 10:30am. Childcare is provided and more coffee and treats can be had after the service. We hold an informal potluck lunch on the second Sunday of every month for all visitors, friends, and members.

Our artists utilize digital proofing to ensure the quality and accuracy of all designs. Final approval from the customer is required before our artists will release a design to be screen printed.  

THE FLOWER FARM

The Flower Farm CSA was an idea that sprouted between two mothers of young children on a family bike ride.  Betti Calhoun had forever wanted to have a flower CSA, but as a very busy mother of two young children, she didn’t feel that she had the time to do this on her own.  Margaret Hoff had been toying with the idea of sustainable farming, but she wanted to focus on creating a large habitat for bees, birds, butterflies, and all the little critters that need space and safe habitats to survive.  A flower farm seemed like the perfect combination, and thus The Flower Farm of Athens County, Ohio was born.

NATURAL FREEDOM WELLNESS CENTER
The original homestead of Jeffers Farms is the home of Natural Freedom. The farm was initiated by Robert's great grandfather, Dr. Wade E. Jeffers, in the early 1900's. In 1987 Robert and Pam purchased the homestead from the family moving into the performance and leisure world of horses from the typical farm use.

​From  1987 to 2006, Pam with Robert's assistance engaged in many typical equine activities such as training, showing, lessons, boarding and the occasional rehabilitation of horses. Through life experiences  Natural Freedom evolved into the existence that it is today starting in 2006.

Athens Mini Maestros is a locally owned music and movement studio offering a range of music and movement classes for children in Athens, OH. BROADWELL HILL
We are located in the Federal Creek Watershed within the Ohio Hill Country region of Appalachia, USA. We are the stewards of 65 acres of recovering forest with a sustainable multi-use management plan with a landscape perspective.

The owner-built passive solar Motherhouse is off-grid with independent water, sanitation, electric systems and an intensive forest garden.

​We are also the stewards for Athens' Own, a sustainable and resilience oriented business serving our circle distribution network.
BODHI TREE
Bodhi Tree Guesthouse & Studio is a Buddhist-inspired retreat for locals and out-of-town guests.  We have rooms available for nightly stays and a studio that offers meditative and therapeutic services.

“We” are Russell & Liz Chamberlain, and opening Bodhi Tree has been a joint creative process.  Having discovered our contemplative paths independently, we developed a united direction and vision on this project.  Both of us have found personal insight through our practices, and see that practice as an ongoing element of our daily life.

​Our desire to share the depth and richness we experience in daily life inspires us in shaping the experience for each and every guest.
